Infrastructure Engineer (IT Ops)

Job details

We’re Sprint Enterprise Technology – a small fintech company, doing big things in the UK wealth management industry, and we have the awards to prove it! Our mission is to bring about a more open and integrated wealth management industry by enabling the flow of rich and accurate data between systems.

We provide two products:

  • Fastrak: our client reporting solution that wealth management firms of all sizes rely on to deliver high-quality, customisable financial reports to their clients.
  • FINIO: our rapidly growing, innovative, award-winning data hub that intelligently connects investment platforms with software providers and advisory firms for the flow of investment data.

As we continue to expand our business, we are looking for our first dedicated infrastructure engineer to join the team to manage all aspects of our Windows servers, other IT infrastructure and endpoint devices, in collaboration with our managed dedicated hosting partner.

We are a fully remote, UK-based team.

What you will do

  • Conduct day-to-day IT operations, including hands on endpoint management using MS Intune, choosing and applying policies and baselines etc. to endpoints, and keeping our attack surface and exposure low.
  • Administer IT equipment and software, including O365, MS Teams and mobile devices.
  • Ensure the effective operation of our dedicated hosting environments (including Microsoft 2016 server, SQL server and IIS) by managing all aspects of our hosted technical infrastructure in collaboration with our managed dedicated hosting partner.
  • Recommend future hosting architectures and options, including alternative hosting approaches and Active Directory (AD) integration etc.
  • Manage spending and procurement of IT equipment and subscriptions.
  • Manage and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Lead on supplier and clients’ due diligence processes, ensuring we meet their requirements and submit due diligence documentation quickly and to a high standard.
  • Implement and maintain Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) in line with ISO27001 standards.
  • Contribute to strategic operational planning by identifying IT infrastructure improvements, forecasting future needs, and aligning with company goals.
  • Collaborate with external infosec partners on all aspects of cyber security, including management of penetration testing, Security Event and Incident Management (SEIM), etc.
  • Engage in a variety of additional projects and tasks beyond the above responsibilities.

Who we are looking for

  • Experience in administering devices via MS Intune, administering Microsoft Windows Server 2016, SQL server (including HA clusters), IIS and dedicated hosting management.
  • Experience managing firewall, VPN, and patching processes.
  • Experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining ISMS in line with ISO27001 standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • 'Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate’ or equivalent experience.
  • ‘Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate’ or equivalent experience.
  • ‘Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert’ or equivalent experience.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a remote, small company environment. Embraces uncertainty and change.
  • Motivated and proactive. You must be comfortable working under your own initiative, and passionate about shaping this new role.
  • Legally authorised to work in the UK without sponsorship.

What we can offer you

  • Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
  • A fully remote role (working from home) with occasional funded company meet-ups
  • Flexible working hours
  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), increasing with length of service, and an extra day off on your birthday
  • 2 days of volunteering/corporate social responsibility leave
  • Holiday purchase scheme (buy or sell up to 5 days)
  • Life assurance
  • Contribution to private health cover
  • Employee assistance programme
